What it does

Karbon organizes accounting-practice tasks, clients, documents, communication and billing. Its tools connect work status with the people and records involved. Paid practice subscriptions distinguish team size and billing features.

Karbon keeps a client conversation close to the work it concerns. In Triage, an email can be assigned to a colleague, discussed through internal comments, added to existing work or turned into a task. Client timelines retain that context when someone else picks up the job. Shared Triage covers firm addresses, while delegated access lets a colleague help manage an individual's inbox.

Document requests, reminders, time tracking and billing sit alongside that communication. A firm can use the work record to follow responsibility and progress, then connect recorded time with the client engagement. The useful choice is how much follow-up and task automation the practice needs.

Plans and billing

Plan Per user/month, annual billing Per user/month, monthly billing Distinction
Team US$59 US$79 Core work, email, time and billing tools
Business US$89 US$99 Automated client reminders, task automation and more integrations
Enterprise Quote Quote Custom configuration and higher usage allowances

Monthly subscriptions require at least four team members. Every invited team member is billable. Electronic-signature credits and payment-processing charges can add to the subscription; signatures on engagement letters do not consume those credits.

A product tour or sales demo provides an introduction before purchase. The platform has an API for custom connections. Karbon's Kai assistant is advertised as an early-access feature, so teams assessing it should distinguish that access from the established Triage and work-management tools.

Strengths

  • Emails, internal discussion and work records stay connected through Triage.
  • Shared inboxes and delegated access support different ways of handling firm communication.

Watch out for

  • Monthly billing requires a team of at least four.
  • Inviting another team member increases the bill; payment processing and some signatures cost extra.

Best for

  • Accounting firms coordinating client work across a team
