What it does
KeePass is a free open-source password manager built around a transferable database file, with groups, attachments, imports and configurable Auto-Type.
KeePass gives the user a database file rather than a hosted account. Groups and subgroups help organize a large collection, while entry attachments keep related material with a login. Its Auto-Type feature can send a configurable sequence to another application's dialog. Decide how the file and any key file will be backed up before relying on them. The feature page distinguishes the 1.x and 2.x lines, so choose the appropriate edition when following instructions for imports or attachments. Exporting to CSV or text is a migration step that creates a readable copy of the records.
