What it does

Keplr offers a free wallet app and browser extension alongside portfolio, staking and governance dashboards. Wallet creation can use a saved recovery phrase or Google sign-in; validator operators have a separate dashboard.

Keplr's wallet dashboard places governance proposals alongside the accounts that can vote on them. In Active proposals, select an item to inspect its remaining voting time, turnout, quorum and your validator's position. Choose Vote, select an option and confirm, then approve the request in the extension. Voting generally depends on stake; voting directly can override the position otherwise inherited from a validator.

For a new mobile wallet, Create New Wallet offers Google sign-in or a new recovery phrase. The phrase route asks you to record and confirm the words, name the wallet and select its chains. Google-created accounts provide a private key rather than a recovery phrase, so preserve the backup appropriate to the method you chose.

Staking has a different set of decisions. The dashboard's Stake control opens a chain selector and validator list with commission and operating information. Select a validator, enter the amount and approve the extension's transaction request. The resulting position appears on that chain's dashboard and in the consolidated Staking view.

Using Max can leave no balance for later reward claims or unstaking fees. Unstaking also starts a chain-specific waiting period during which the tokens cannot be used or transferred. Keplr currently gives Cosmos Hub as a 21-day example; other networks need their own check.

There is no app-purchase charge for the wallet. Network fees and validator commissions still matter, and displayed reward rates do not guarantee a return or protect against a falling token price. The operator dashboard serves validators themselves, so use the wallet instructions when managing your own delegation.

Strengths

  • Mobile access supports Ledger connections over Bluetooth
  • An in-app browser and WalletConnect provide application-connection options

Watch out for

  • Unstaking can leave assets unavailable until the network’s waiting period ends
  • The Google recovery route does not produce the same phrase backup as a phrase-created wallet

Best for

  • Delegators who follow proposal details before voting
  • People managing supported network accounts from one staking dashboard
