What it does

KeyShot Studio is a product visualisation application for imported CAD and 3D models. It combines material editing, lighting, cameras and animation with LiveLinking updates from supported design tools. Professional, Business and Enterprise share the Studio feature set and differ in management, support and add-ons. Studio is sold by subscription, with a 14-day full-feature trial.

Materials can be dragged onto a model, while the Material Graph builds procedural surface effects. Lighting can come from physical lights or the HDRI editor, which adjusts the surrounding lighting image. Turntables, exploded views and colour changes provide different ways to present a product. LiveLinking brings CAD revisions into a scene while preserving work such as materials, views and animations.

Subscription choices

Plan Access Main distinction
Professional Annual subscription per user Individual seat
Business Annual subscription per user Transferable seats and central seat management
Enterprise Custom quote Organisation-specific support and purchasing terms

Professional and Business also offer plans billed every three years. Cloud rendering uses separately purchased credits, and other rendering or presentation add-ons depend on the plan.

The full-feature trial lasts 14 days and needs no credit card. Eligible full-time students and faculty can obtain an annual EDU licence for learning purposes. EDU files cannot be opened by other KeyShot editions, which matters when moving coursework into a commercial studio.

Strengths

  • LiveLinking preserves visualisation settings when supported CAD models change.
  • The Studio feature set is shared across the three commercial plans.

Watch out for

  • EDU files cannot be opened in other KeyShot editions.
  • Cloud rendering requires prepaid credits beyond the Studio subscription.

Best for

  • Industrial designers presenting materials and colour options
  • Product teams preparing turntables or assembly animations
