What it does
KH Coder is a software package for quantitative content analysis and text mining with support for multiple listed languages.
For the version 3 workflow, create a project with the target text, language and word extractor, then run preprocessing and inspect word selection. Preprocessing results save automatically, but coding rules and important analysis outputs need separate saving; project export creates a .khc archive for transfer. Rerunning preprocessing overwrites manually changed extraction results, so keep a separate copy before doing that. Windows Starting is a free demo limited to the first 100 items of your own data, with one forced pickup word, one ignored word and no part-of-speech selection; included tutorial data is exempt. The separately purchased Mac 5 setup package requires Apple Silicon, macOS 11 or later and a copy per computer.
Strengths
- Multilingual quantitative text analysis
- Tutorial and reference material
Watch out for
- Windows demo access is limited
Best for
