What it does
Kinolibrary represents archive footage from around the world. Its search includes decade, country, colour, original-format and master-resolution filters, with free research assistance for material beyond the website.
Use Advanced filters to distinguish an original 16 mm or 35 mm film from its available 2K or 4K master. Only a selection of the archive is online, so the research team can look beyond the visible results.
To order, send the licensing team a Clip Reference or Unique ID, your project details and required clearance. The Unique ID identifies an exact clip and its timecodes; the Clip Reference identifies the whole film. The team supplies a quote and order form, then sends clean masters and the licence after payment. Payment and master delivery are arranged through the team rather than an online checkout.
Editorial pricing uses a per-second rate with a 30-second minimum that can span several clips. Premium footage can have a separate minimum per film; dramas, advertisements and promos use per-shot pricing. Premium and Transfer Fee labels identify clips needing particular attention in a quote.
Strengths
- Technical filters distinguish original film format from master resolution.
- Researchers can supply candidates outside the public website selection.
Watch out for
- The website does not provide direct master purchases.
- Editorial orders have a stated minimum, with separate rules for premium footage.
Best for
- Archive producers seeking footage with research and licensing assistance
