What it does
KIRI Engine combines phone and web photogrammetry with LiDAR and Gaussian-splat scanning. It provides mesh cropping, configurable outputs and paid retopology, material and rigging tools.
Photo Scan suits textured, non-reflective subjects. The capture tutorial recommends walking around the object at three heights, keeping roughly 70% overlap between neighbouring images and adding closer views for detail. Create an account, capture or upload the photographs, and let the cloud process them. Basic accepts up to 150 photos and 2 GB per scan, with 4K textures.
Use the mesh editor to crop unwanted surroundings. In the completed model's preview, choose Export, select the export options and provide an email destination. The download link supplies a ZIP containing the model, material and texture files. Photo Scan formats include OBJ, FBX, STL, GLB, GLTF, USDZ, PLY and XYZ.
Basic provides continuing free use and exports. Pro costs USD 79.99 billed yearly and adds quad-mesh generation, PBR materials, rig generation, 8K textures and advanced export controls. Its displayed USD 6.66 monthly figure is an annual-billing equivalent.
LiDAR capture requires supported sensor-equipped iPhones or iPads. Standard Object Capture works locally and offline, while AI-enhanced LiDAR uses cloud processing. Photo Scan also depends on the cloud; these modes do not share one processing rule.
Users retain ownership of scans, subject to rights in the subject. The app terms also grant KIRI broad reuse rights over posted Contributions, so ownership is not an assurance of exclusive use.
Strengths
- Free Photo Scan includes model exports and cropping within its input limits.
- The download package keeps model, material and texture files together.
Watch out for
- Photo Scan and enhanced LiDAR require cloud processing.
- LiDAR modes need supported sensor-equipped iOS hardware.
- Quad-mesh, material-generation and advanced export tools require Pro.
Best for
- Capturing textured objects for a 3D scene
- Preparing a scan with cropped geometry and accompanying texture files
