What it does
Rakuten Kobo offers ebooks and audiobooks through its reading ecosystem. Kobo Plus adds eligible subscription titles in supported countries and on compatible devices.
Look for the Kobo Plus label when checking a subscription book: the subscription does not cover every title sold by Kobo. The country list includes markets such as Canada, India, the UK and the US, with trial terms varying by location. A supported billing country and valid payment method matter when joining.
Check the reader as well as the book. Kobo Mini and Kobo Wi Fi are excluded from Kobo Plus, and subscription books cannot simply be exported as unrestricted files to another brand’s reader.
Kobo Plus subscriptions are managed on the website or Android app, rather than the iOS app or e-reader. The FAQ also gives a 15-book offline limit during the trial before reconnecting and syncing, and excludes Quebec residents from its free trial.
