What it does
Kraken offers cryptocurrency buying and selling through its main app and the separate Kraken Pro trading interface. Recurring purchases run on a schedule, while custom orders use a target price. An account is required, and available assets, funding methods and advanced products depend on your verified country of residence.
Recurring purchases or a trading screen
Kraken lets you schedule purchases or create a custom order at your chosen price. Kraken Pro has a separate spot interface and fee schedule; margin, futures and the OTC desk each have additional conditions.
What Kraken charges
Instant and recurring trades carry a 1% trading fee; custom orders carry 1.5%. The quoted price also includes a spread, and payment charges can apply. Kraken+ waives eligible trading fees up to USD 10,000 of monthly volume, but leaves spreads and card processing costs in place. That benefit does not cover Kraken Pro.
Pro uses maker and taker tiers linked to activity and assets held on the platform. Check the schedule for the relevant product and region rather than treating the instant-buy rate as the Pro rate.
Country and account limits
Kraken bases access on verified residency. Its prohibited-region list includes Japan, Russia and Iran, among others. EEA accounts have asset restrictions, and margin has separate eligibility rules. The funding provider can impose further country limits. Crypto values can fall sharply, including after a scheduled purchase.
