What it does

PDF Chisel is an open-source desktop PDF editor for Windows, Mac, and Linux. It supports in-place text changes, embedded-image replacement, page navigation, and undo or redo.

Double-click the text for a short correction, or select an embedded image and replace it with a PNG or JPEG. Use the thumbnail sidebar to move between pages and undo/redo to revisit edits. Choose Save As for a new copy: the documented Ctrl+S action overwrites, while Ctrl+Shift+S saves separately. Windows, Intel/Apple Silicon Mac and Linux packages are listed. The inspected material does not establish OCR or broad form-processing support.

Strengths

  • Focuses on in-place text changes and image replacement.

Best for

  • Correcting a short PDF without its original source file
