What it does
LettError presents original typefaces, custom work and type research. Its catalog includes variable display designs, typewriter families and fonts with alternate or randomized behavior, supported by explanatory guides.
LettError is useful when the behavior of a typeface is part of the design. Beowolf introduces random variation, Kosmik offers several forms per glyph, and Very Bauble changes its ornamental serifs along a variable-font axis. Each explores a different way for letters to change without redrawing them individually.
Very Bauble's page makes that idea practical: compare its named styles, move the Serif control, and use the Character Set Viewer or PDF specimen to inspect the available characters. The family offers separate static fonts and a variable TrueType version. If you convert variable-font text to outlines, hidden construction shapes may appear; LettError recommends combining them with Illustrator's Pathfinder Unite, or using a static OpenType font instead.
Licences are bought for perpetual use without annual fees. The current trial offer covers Limited, with basic letters and numerals but no variable axes or OpenType features. It is for testing and approval; published work needs a paid licence.
