What it does

Lexware Office connects receipt recognition, bank transactions and electronic invoices with bookkeeping for German businesses. A tax adviser can work directly with the digital records. Paid versions cover different tasks, with a 30-day trial of the XL functions.

Lexware Office connects a transaction with its receipt. A photographed receipt supplies details such as amount and supplier, and the software matches it to the associated bank booking. Connected bank activity and recurring invoices then feed the bookkeeping workflow. Giving the tax adviser direct access keeps questions attached to the same digital records.

When one payment covers several invoices

For example, a customer might pay two invoices in one transfer. In Finanzen > Umsätze > Umsätze zuordnen, choose + Manuell zuordnen, then BELEG WÄHLEN. Select the relevant documents until the difference is zero and click ZUORDNEN. The bank entry moves to Alle Umsätze, and the documents are marked Bezahlt.

If the payment only partly covers several selected documents, Lexware allocates it proportionally. You cannot specify a different amount for each document in that combined match. Missing documents can be handled with Teilabgleich, leaving the remaining amount open for a later assignment. A pending transaction in a Lexware business account can take only one receipt until it is booked.

Four paid versions

Regular monthly prices exclude VAT:

Version Monthly price Main scope
S €7.90 Receipt capture and storage
M €12.90 Adds quotes, invoices and reminders
L €21.90 Adds bookkeeping and tax reports
XL €32.90 Adds functions including EU invoices and the API

The current introductory offer halves the price for the first three months. Subscriptions can be cancelled monthly. Payroll is a separate paid option; mobile apps are included.

Start the 30-day trial, confirm the registration email and set a password through its confirmation link. The trial includes XL and payroll functions, so compare the version you intend to buy before building a workflow around them. The API, a connection for other software, is available in XL.

Strengths

  • Direct adviser access keeps questions beside the underlying documents
  • Supports partial bank matches when not all related receipts are available

Watch out for

  • Combined partial payments are allocated proportionally across documents
  • Payroll costs extra
  • The trial includes XL features that lower paid versions do not include

Best for

  • German self-employed people reconciling customer payments and sharing books with a tax adviser
