What it does
Lichess is a donation-supported, open-source chess server with online play, computer analysis and shared study tools.
After a game, use analysis to revisit a decision rather than immediately starting another match. Collaborative studies let a group discuss variations and positions together. Lichess separates its freely available site from independently hired coaching, so a coach’s lesson fee is not a platform subscription.
Strengths
- Free play and game analysis
- Real-time collaborative studies
Best for
- Playing chess and reviewing games with others
