What it does
Lightdash Cloud is a managed analytics service built around a context layer for metrics, dimensions, joins and business logic. Teams can maintain definitions from dbt or Lightdash YAML and reuse them in reports and applications.
Lightdash Cloud provides managed business intelligence around reusable definitions of metrics, dimensions and relationships. Those definitions can come from a dbt project or Lightdash YAML files pointing to tables in a warehouse. This is useful when analysts want reports and applications to use the same business calculations.
Setup starts with those definitions, followed by the warehouse connection and project. The quickstart offers either deployment through the Lightdash command-line tool or a Git repository connection to keep the project synchronized. Teammates can then be invited with appropriate roles. A warehouse inside a private network needs the corresponding connection arrangement, such as an SSH tunnel.
Cloud Pro includes unlimited users and visualizations, scheduled reports and alerts, and code-based charts and dashboards. Customer-facing embedding is an add-on; Enterprise adds more advanced identity and access controls. A 21-day trial needs no credit card, and the trial clock starts when the first dbt project is connected and compiled.
The Cloud listing is for the managed service. Its commercial subscription should be assessed separately from the open-source project, particularly when deciding who will operate the infrastructure and support access for a team.
