What it does

ColourSpace provides display profiling, measurement graphs and calibration tools. Its 3D LUTs are lookup tables that store colour corrections for a monitor, processor or grading system, with separate routes for manual calibration. Most licences are bought once for the product's lifetime and include updates, with rentals handled separately.

The calibration sequence separates setup, measurement, correction and verification. Configure the display, measure a chosen patch sequence, then generate a LUT from that profile and the target colour space. Active LUT verification sends test patches through the correction before it is uploaded. A second check after upload tests the actual destination and can reveal a different result.

Hardware and licence selection matter. Manufacturer-specific editions may use direct upload without providing general LUT export, and their supported equipment can differ from the main editions. Greyed-out functions require a higher licence.

ColourSpace runs natively on Windows. A Mac needs a full Windows environment, and Windows on ARM cannot use every integrated device because drivers vary.

Most licences last for the product’s life and include updates without annual maintenance fees; rentals are the exception. Standard licensing covers one computer, with internet activation and periodic checks. Users can move a licence between computers five times through deactivation and activation; further moves require a reset request.

Strengths

  • Verification can compare the correction before and after hardware upload.
  • Preset or user-created patch sequences support different measurement tasks.

Watch out for

  • Hardware support and LUT export vary with the licence and manufacturer edition.
  • Mac use requires a Windows environment.
  • Activation and periodic licence checks require an internet connection.

Best for

  • Calibrators and post-production teams managing display corrections.
