What it does

LingQ turns books, podcasts and other content into language study with word meanings and vocabulary tracking.

Bring LingQ a subject you already want to read or hear. The reader lets you look up words as you go and keep track of vocabulary, which helps connect word study to a longer piece of content. A sensible starting point is material you can mostly follow already. Its content-based approach gives you choice, but also leaves the choice of suitable material to you.

The reviewed Free plan allows 20 saved words or phrases and five imported lessons. Premium removes those two limits and bills upfront for the selected recurring term. These caps matter if your plan is to turn a whole book or podcast series into a personal vocabulary library.

Strengths

  • Word lookup while reading
  • Vocabulary tracking connected to real content

Watch out for

  • Choosing suitable content is part of the learner's work

Best for
