What it does
LIWC-22 analyzes word use in pasted text, text files and spreadsheets, with custom dictionary tools and graphical or spreadsheet results.
LIWC-22 accepts pasted text, text files and spreadsheet data, then reports dictionary-category measures in graphs or spreadsheets. Its basic calculation is the percentage of total words matching a category; one word can belong to several categories, so category percentages need not form a single partition. Keep the source text alongside the output when interpreting ambiguous words. The dictionary workbench supports custom categories. Licensing depends on use: the academic store is for university academics and students, while non-academic work, including consulting by an academic, requires a commercial licence. The FAQ lists Windows, macOS and desktop Ubuntu/Debian with specific compatibility qualifications.
