What it does
LocalSend is a cross-platform application for sending files and text across a local network without an Internet connection.
Install LocalSend on both devices, select files or text and tap the nearby recipient. This suits moving phone photos to a desktop while the devices share a local Wi-Fi network. Received files go to Downloads by default, with a different folder selectable in settings; optional PIN verification adds a receiving check. The official project lists Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iOS and requires no account. It does not send over the Internet, so it cannot leave a download link for a distant recipient.
Strengths
- Works without an Internet connection
- Desktop and mobile apps
Watch out for
