What it does

Lunar combines a Danish bank account and payment card with spending categories, notifications and savings tools. Light provides a free account and digital card, while paid plans add automatic saving and more accounts. Its English-language app and application guidance also serve international residents in Denmark.

Lunar puts incoming and outgoing activity into a spending overview with categories and immediate purchase notifications. With Standard or a higher plan, saving rules can round up card purchases and transfer an additional chosen amount toward a goal. A monthly spending plan keeps those goals alongside everyday outgoings.

Danish personal plans

Plan Monthly price Included accounts Useful distinction
Light DKK 0 1 Free digital card; can join a shared account
Standard DKK 39 3 Automatic saving and creation of shared accounts
Plus DKK 79 6 Lunar Youth access and additional travel benefits
Unlimited DKK 149 Unlimited Metal card and SAS EuroBonus Lunar card

Standard includes three digital cards and one physical card. It has no fixed commitment period, with cancellation notice running through the remainder of the month. Plus and Unlimited remove Lunar’s own foreign-exchange and withdrawal fees, although external providers can still charge.

Application takes place in the mobile app using MitID and accepted personal identification. After approval, a Lunar account can be assigned as a NemKonto in the app to receive Danish public payments. The service provides English-language support and has no branches.

Automatic saving belongs to the paid plans, so someone choosing Light for its free account should not expect all the saving and budgeting tools shown elsewhere in the app’s advertising.

Strengths

  • Spending categories and notifications keep account activity visible.
  • Paid plans link card purchases to configurable savings goals.

Watch out for

  • Light does not include the paid plans’ automatic-saving tools.
  • Lunar has no branches for in-person account service.

Best for

  • People seeking an English-language Danish bank account
  • Danish customers who want spending and automatic saving in one app
