What it does
M1 organizes selected stocks and ETFs into portfolio Pies with target percentages. You choose the holdings, while scheduled trade windows handle execution. M1 Advisor answers questions using account positions and balances, with controls over what it remembers.
An M1 Pie sets the target percentage for each holding. That structure suits a portfolio you intend to maintain over time. M1 Advisor can explain its reasoning from your positions and balances; you decide whether to follow it. Saved memories can be edited, deleted or disabled.
Trades run in one or two scheduled daily windows. Limit orders, day trading, options, futures and mutual funds are unavailable. M1 therefore fits allocation-based investing better than orders that require a precise execution time.
The platform or IRA fee is US$3 per 30-day cycle, with no double charge. It is waived when total M1 assets reach US$10,000 for at least one day in that cycle, or an active M1 Personal Loan qualifies. Other service and regulatory fees can apply. Settings, then Platform fee shows the waiver status and billing history.
For an individual brokerage account, select Add Account, then Individual Investing. Standard applicants are US residents aged 18 or over with an SSN, and the opening minimum is US$100. Other account types have different minimums.
