What it does
m3ter connects usage measurement, pricing rules and bill calculation for businesses with consumption-based charges. Existing users can inspect the usage and pricing behind bill lines before approval and transfer to connected systems. Following its acquisition by Salesforce, the standalone product is no longer generally available for new customers to purchase.
m3ter is now part of Salesforce. Its standalone product is no longer generally available for new customers to purchase. The contact form registers interest in future availability; it is not a current self-service purchase route. Salesforce targets the capabilities for a future Agentforce Revenue Management offering.
For existing customers, m3ter remains a metering and rating system: it measures product use and applies commercial rules to calculate charges. Meters capture raw or derived values. Aggregations turn those measurements into quantities such as a total or maximum, while plans supply pricing and billing settings. Plan groups can apply minimum spend across several plans.
Inspecting a calculated bill
Open Billing to see Bill management, then select a bill's reference. Expand a usage line to inspect its plan, aggregation, meter and pricing details. Tiered charges can be broken down further. This helps answer a customer's question about which usage produced a charge, instead of showing only the final amount.
The bill view also exposes integration results. A successful connection can supply an external reference linking to the invoice in the downstream system, and the integration status helps trace a failed handoff.
Approval and locking serve different purposes. Approval makes a bill ready for its configured integration; recalculating an approved bill returns it to Pending. An individually locked bill cannot be unlocked or recalculated. Check corrections before applying that lock.
The published commercial structure uses a monthly core platform fee with included data and billing allowances, plus charges for extra processing and selected integrations. Enhanced support and implementation services can add cost. Existing customers should use their contracted terms; the older pricing page should not be read as an invitation to open a new standalone account today.
m3ter is most relevant when finance and engineering need a traceable connection between measured usage and billed amounts. Businesses seeking a newly available product should follow the Salesforce announcement and wait for an explicit release or offer.
