What it does

IconChamp applies individual icon replacements or saved groups of icons on macOS. Users supply image files, and the app can reapply their choices when updates replace the artwork. It is distributed as a free download with in-app purchases and requires macOS 11 or later.

A theme groups several replacements into one operation, useful when related icons need to change across an application set. IconChamp’s workflow is drag, drop and apply, using standard image files. Automatic reapplication restores the chosen artwork after app or system updates. Find or create the icon artwork separately; the FAQ points users to external theme resources.

The app is offered as a free download with in-app purchases. It requires macOS 11 or later and explicitly excludes 10.15 and below. For a failed application of changes, the FAQ suggests reopening the app and using Reset Icon Caches in preferences. Its published feature discussion focuses on Big Sur and Monterey; the FAQ does not promise support for every later major macOS release.

Strengths

  • Saved themes can apply several icon choices together.
  • The app can reapply custom icons after updates.

Watch out for

  • macOS 10.15 and earlier are unsupported.
  • Icon artwork and themes must be found or created separately.

Best for

  • Mac users applying coordinated icon themes
