What it does
danwin1210 provides a free email service with standard client protocols and two webmail interfaces. Its documentation recommends PGP and allows a public key to be registered for WKD discovery.
The service documents two webmail choices with different tradeoffs. SnappyMail offers browser PGP support, while the older SquirrelMail interface works without JavaScript but has limitations with some PGP/MIME messages. A separate client can use the published IMAP, POP and SMTP settings.
For protected correspondence, the operator recommends PGP and supports publishing a public key through Web Key Directory. That gives compatible clients a key-discovery route. This is a free community-hosted mailbox with client and correspondent key management still part of the workflow.
Strengths
- A public key can be registered for WKD discovery.
- Standard mail-client settings and two webmail interfaces are documented.
Watch out for
- The documented SquirrelMail option is old and has limitations with modern message formats.
Best for
- People comfortable managing PGP keys with a small community mail provider
