What it does
Mailtrap combines production email delivery with a sandbox that captures test messages without sending them to customers. The API and SMTP service handles live notifications, while separate tools cover marketing mail. Its Free sending plan includes 4,000 monthly emails, capped at 150 per day; sandbox allowances are separate.
Mailtrap provides separate routes for test messages and production email. A staging application's messages can be captured in a sandbox, where the team inspects the content without contacting customers. The transactional API is the route for real, individual messages triggered by user actions. Each sandbox has its own identifier, available from its URL or the sandbox-list API.
The production sending plan also includes message logs, templates, webhooks and a separate bulk stream. Free production sending retains logs for three days and permits 4,000 emails per month with a 150-per-day cap. Paid packages extend history and capacity. Sandbox, sending and marketing pricing have separate sections, so a sending allowance does not establish the capacity of the test environment.
Create an account with Google, GitHub, Office 365 or an email and password. Email signup sends a confirmation message, and no card is needed to start. The Free sending plan permits one user and one domain.
