What it does
Zcash Block Explorer follows confirmed blocks, pending transactions and public address activity. Its public pages need no sign-up, and the software is available without a license fee under Apache 2.0.
Search by transaction, block or address, or use Mempool to inspect pending activity. A confirmed transaction page identifies its block, confirmation count, time, transaction type and fee. Recent Blocks and the blockchain-information panel provide a separate view of network progress.
Shielded transfers need different expectations from transparent payments. A shielded transaction can show confirmation and fee information without disclosing its private participants or transferred amount. A zero count in the public-input or public-output section does not mean that no shielded activity occurred.
The dedicated Payment Disclosure tool accepts disclosure data in hexadecimal format and reveals the payment details it contains. Viewing Key has a separate import form with a starting-height field. These are deliberate disclosure workflows, not requirements for ordinary public lookup. Only provide such material if you intend the service to receive it.
The explorer’s privacy policy says it does not track visitors, but also explains that its cloud provider may log IP addresses, browser information and visited pages. Public blockchain access should not be confused with anonymous web access.
Strengths
- Basic exploration supports browsers with JavaScript disabled
- The code supports self-hosted and Docker-based deployment
Watch out for
- Shielded transaction pages do not expose the same details as transparent transfers
- The hosting provider may log visits under the published privacy policy
Best for
- Zcash users checking confirmations without disclosing wallet data
- Technical users running their own Zcash explorer
