What it does
The Mammal Diversity Database tracks taxonomic changes to living and recently extinct mammals, with release notes and earlier versions.
Search a mammal name, then keep the database version in your notes. Release notes help explain why a classification differs from an older reference. Its scope includes recently extinct species, defined as approximately since 1500 CE, making the time boundary important when comparing it with a broader fossil database.
