What it does
Manager provides configurable small-business accounts, cash or accrual reporting, currencies and bank reconciliation. The free desktop edition works offline on Windows, Mac and Linux for one user. Paid cloud access adds remote use and multiple users, with business data transferable between editions.
Manager lets a business define its chart of accounts, opening balances, currencies and the functional areas it needs. The desktop edition is free without time or usage limits. Its main restriction is single-user access; teams needing shared remote work can use the paid cloud edition.
After installing the desktop program, open Businesses > Add Business > Create New Business. Enter the business name and choose its country. Available localizations supply initial currency, formats and accounting settings; countries without a localization need manual setup.
Reconcile a statement balance
In Bank Reconciliations, choose New Bank Reconciliation, then enter the statement date, bank account and closing balance. Save it and inspect the status.
A reconciled result shows the statement balance, pending deposits and withdrawals, and a zero discrepancy. If it does not reconcile, open the Discrepancy figure. Manager checks balances and pending transactions, then can narrow the unexplained movement to particular days. Correct existing entries or add a missing receipt or payment before checking again.
Move or preserve the books
Open a business and select Backup. The file can include its transactions, customer and supplier details, reports, attachments and settings. Restore it through Businesses > Add Business > Import Business.
Each business needs its own backup. Files can move between Windows, Mac and Linux or between desktop and cloud editions, which is useful when handing a set of books to an accountant.
Cloud pricing is not based on the number of users or businesses. The published terms allow cancellation without a minimum contract, and a downloaded backup can continue in the free desktop program. Cloud users have accounts and permissions; the local desktop workflow does not require a hosted subscription.
