What it does
Mandarin Bean provides graded Chinese lessons with teacher-recorded audio, contextual translations, pinyin and simplified or traditional character display.
Mandarin Bean lets you choose the script form without changing the underlying reading task. Read a graded lesson, use the contextual translation when needed and listen to the recording to connect characters with speech. Grammar exercises offer a separate way to check a form that repeatedly causes difficulty in the readings.
All graded reading lessons are free. The HSK sample tests teach the format and provide preparation; they do not book an official examination or issue an HSK result. Check the current test version if exam preparation is the reason for choosing a sample.
