What it does
Maple combines symbolic and numerical mathematics with plots, explanations and a mathematical programming language.
Maple combines symbolic and numerical calculations, explanations and plots in mathematical documents. The solve command accepts equations or inequalities and explicit unknowns; its output shape depends on whether those unknowns are supplied as a name, set or list. Empty output can mean no solution or a failure to find one, with a warning and _SolutionsMayBeLost for the latter. Higher-degree polynomial results may use implicit RootOf expressions. Save updates the current document name, while Save As chooses a new location/name or format: .mw worksheets/documents, .maple workbooks or legacy .mws. Older releases can lose newer features or change command results. Academic, Professional, Student and Personal editions and single-user/volume licensing have distinct terms; the product page also offers a trial and separate MapleCloud document sharing.
