What it does
Marvelous Designer creates digital clothing by sewing patterns and simulating fabric on avatars. Tools for pinning, layering and folds support game, animation and VFX garments. Geometry and animated cloth can be exported to other 3D applications. A one-time 14-day trial precedes paid monthly or annual access.
Marvelous Designer builds clothing through patterns, sewing and cloth simulation around an avatar. Shrinkage, layering and pinning control the garment’s fit and silhouette. Brush Pinching adds localized folds, with a simulation override for temporarily changing fabric and global values while refining them.
For the handoff, OBJ carries geometry and materials, while Alembic includes animated geometry. Point caches can transfer vertex animation to Maya or 3ds Max. FBX supports meshes, materials, animation and cameras, but joints can be exported only when they were originally imported through FBX. Imported Substance materials expose adjustable parameters and can bake their individual texture channels.
An individual licence costs USD 39 per month on monthly billing, or USD 23.30 per month with an annual subscription. The personal trial lasts 14 days and is available once; it converts to a monthly subscription unless cancelled on the licence page.
Personal and student users on version 2024.0 or later sign in with a CLO-SET account. That shared login does not include a Marvelous Designer licence with a separate paid CLO or CLO-SET service.
