What it does
Maverick Studio is a Windows GPU renderer for CAD and mesh-based product visualisation. It combines materials, gradient lights and a Rhino bridge with Render Sets that separate objects or materials into layered PSD output. A 30-day trial requires an account; paid access includes subscriptions or a perpetual licence with one year of updates.
The Rhino bridge can update geometry while retaining Maverick's materials, lights and cameras. Triplanar projection applies textures without a conventional UV layout, and real-world units control material scale.
For a layered product render, assign Render Set IDs in object or material attributes. In the render panel, enter all, a comma-separated list or an ID range to choose what to render. Tag a floor or room object as the backdrop to separate it, its shadows and its reflections. Select PSD output to organise the sets as groups for compositing. Material mode instead separates the render by material IDs.
The render panel accepts pixel or physical dimensions and an output format and location. Draft rendering uses half the specified resolution; Final uses the full size. The IPR window has a denoiser toggle and a blow-up tool for inspecting the image without moving the camera.
Maverick requires Windows and an NVIDIA CUDA GPU. Multiple GPUs do not pool their memory. Each launch checks the licence online; a failed check leaves watermarks. A 30-day trial requires an account. Paid access includes monthly or annual subscriptions and a perpetual option with one year of updates. Eligible students can apply for an education licence at EUR 39.99 per year.
Strengths
- The Rhino bridge preserves a render setup when geometry changes.
- Render Sets can produce separate PSD groups for compositing.
Watch out for
- Rendering requires Windows and an NVIDIA CUDA GPU.
- Offline licence-check failures produce watermarked output.
Best for
- Product visualisers rendering imported CAD or mesh models
- Artists delivering layered product renders for compositing
