What it does
Maxthon offers cross-device browsing, history and cookie cleanup on exit, mobile ad blocking and optional desktop blocking extensions.
Maxthon distinguishes its filtering by platform: mobile versions include ad blocking, while desktop users add an extension. Its data-cleaning feature can remove history and cookies when the browser exits. Those are useful controls for deciding what stays on a shared device, alongside its separate cross-device sync features.
The homepage also promotes a free VPN provided by Bright Data. That is an additional network service, so examine its own terms and scope before enabling it. Browser cleanup, synchronization and a VPN affect different data paths; choose the relevant settings rather than treating the combined feature list as one privacy guarantee.
Maxthon's browser policy describes account-based syncing of notes, passwords, forms and bookmarks, plus browser usage information. Its default MaxAsk search route processes queries, IP addresses and browser details; changing the search engine is an available control. The User Experience Improvement Program can also be disabled. Local exit cleanup therefore has a different scope from account sync and search-provider records.
