What it does
Maxtree supplies trees, shrubs, flowers and grasses for 3D scenes. Its catalogue includes high- and low-polygon collections, native application files and exchange formats. Paid packs have format and licence choices, while the free Vol 60 collection can be used commercially.
Choose the file package
The three delivery options differ in how much setup and editing they allow.
| Package | Included files and setup |
|---|---|
| FBX | Plant meshes, textures and previews; materials need manual setup |
| Mesh | FBX plus native files for supported applications, with materials already prepared |
| GrowFX + Mesh | Mesh files plus the original GrowFX plant files; editing those originals requires GrowFX in 3ds Max |
Mesh files contain editable polygons, not the procedural plant construction. Native deliveries include Blender, Cinema 4D, Maya, Unreal Engine and Twinmotion. VRScene files serve SketchUp, Rhino and Revit with V-Ray.
Plant Models Vol 196 is a cactus and agave collection with format and licence choices. Vol 60 costs nothing and includes plants such as maple, abelia, agave and lawn grasses; downloading it requires registration or login.
The paid licence tiers depend on revenue over the previous 12 months.
| Licence tier | Revenue limit |
|---|---|
| Indie | Up to US$100,000 |
| Pro | Up to US$250,000 |
| Enterprise | Higher revenue |
Licences belong to the purchasing entity and do not automatically cover affiliates. Standalone asset redistribution is restricted; Enterprise collaboration has additional conditions.
Maxtree warns that its current models and textures are not prepared to game specifications, even when an Unreal Engine format is supplied.
