What it does
Maya Protocol operates MAYAChain, a cross-chain exchange using native assets and onchain vaults. Wallet and exchange frontends provide access to its liquidity. Streaming swaps split an exchange into smaller parts, while the associated AZTECChain remains under development.
MAYAChain exchanges native assets across chains through liquidity pools and vaults. Visitors use an integrated frontend such as THORWallet, Rango or THORSwap. For the documented CACAO purchase, fund the chosen wallet, open Swap, select the paying asset and amount, then choose CACAO as the receiving asset. Available routes depend on the frontend and connected wallets.
A quote can include four costs: the sending network charge, a pool charge based on swap size and liquidity, an optional frontend affiliate charge, and the outbound network charge. Refunding a failed transaction also has an outbound cost, so a very small transfer can be uneconomic. The quote API provides a recommended minimum input.
Streaming swaps exchange smaller amounts at intervals. Their limit, interval and quantity settings control the acceptable ratio, spacing and number of attempts. Successfully exchanged amounts are sent at completion; unsuccessful portions can return as the original asset. This trades immediate completion for a different execution process, with a maximum stream duration of 24 hours in the documentation.
Confirmation times on the sending chain and MAYAChain observation add waiting time. Large outbound transfers can be delayed further. The live exchange is MAYAChain; the proposed smart-contract features of AZTECChain should not be treated as available trading functions.
Strengths
- Native-asset routes across separate blockchains
- Streaming controls for swap interval, quantity and limit
- Quote API includes fees and a recommended minimum amount
Watch out for
- Failed swaps can still incur refund network costs
- Streaming and large outbound transfers can take longer
- AZTECChain remains under development
Best for
- Wallet users comparing native cross-chain routes and streaming execution
