What it does

McAfee Secure VPN is accessed within the McAfee app and replaces the retired Safe Connect service for affected subscribers.

McAfee's current instructions direct subscribers to Secure VPN inside the McAfee app. Safe Connect retired on 15 August 2026, so installing or troubleshooting that older standalone app is no longer the documented path to access. The support notice says former standalone Safe Connect subscriptions were upgraded to a Total Protection package with VPN access for five devices.

Start by checking the VPN entitlement in the existing McAfee subscription and the current app for the device. The migration guide covers Windows, Android and iOS installation routes. The product page also describes automatic activation on unsecured networks. Additional antivirus or identity features in the bundle have their own roles; activating the VPN is a separate step within the app.
