What it does
UNHCR Refugees Media provides photographs, video and other media about refugees and UNHCR-supported issues. Registered users can access its collections, with separate permission required for publication.
Registration asks for your company name and type as well as your name, email, city and country. The homepage groups material around emergencies and reports, including Syria, Ukraine, Sudan and the Education Report.
A Medium Res Comp can be used for an internal layout, but downloading it does not authorise publication. Obtain final-use permission from authorised UNHCR staff and follow any restrictions attached to the asset.
Permitted editorial use must relate to UNHCR-supported issues and accurately represent and caption the people or situation shown. Commercial promotion and fundraising for other organisations are excluded. Photos need a visible UNHCR/photographer credit, and a later use beyond the stated purpose requires fresh permission.
Strengths
- Medium-resolution comps can be used for internal layouts.
- The library groups coverage around named emergencies and institutional reports.
Watch out for
- Commercial promotion and outside fundraising are prohibited.
- Further use beyond the stated purpose needs additional permission.
Best for
- Newsrooms and documentary teams covering refugee-related issues
