What it does

MediBang Paint provides illustration and manga tools on Windows, Mac, iPhone, iPad and Android. It includes customizable brushes, sketch import and shared Group Projects. Basic access is free, with Premium subscriptions expanding cloud storage and access to additional materials.

Move a sketch into a shared comic

Scan or import a drawing, then ink and colour it with MediBang’s brushes. Group Project shares files among contributors, including writers, artists and people adding screentones or backgrounds. The same account can be used on multiple supported devices, so a page can move between mobile and desktop.

Drawing works offline apart from cloud functions. Cloud access requires signing in and verifying the account’s email address.

Free cloud boundaries

Without Premium, the documented limits are 3 GB of cloud storage, membership in up to three teams and access to the latest three saved versions through recall. Premium provides larger storage allowances and additional brushes or materials.

The pricing FAQ offers monthly subscriptions through mobile stores and annual plans through the website. These subscriptions can be used across device types, regardless of where the plan was purchased.

Strengths

  • Sketch import connects paper drawings with digital colouring
  • Shared projects support separate comic-production roles
  • A subscription can be used across supported device types

Watch out for

  • Cloud features require a verified account and a connection
  • Free cloud access limits storage, team membership and recalled versions

Best for

  • Small manga teams sharing page files
  • Artists drawing on both desktop and mobile devices
