What it does

Meridian Credit Union offers personal banking with branches and digital account management, focused on Ontario members. Chequing packages range from a C$3 monthly basic option to larger transaction allowances, with a no-monthly-fee student package for eligible members.

Meridian’s temporary debit-card lock is useful when a card may be misplaced. Transaction and balance alerts help follow account activity between logins, while branches provide another route for service.

Match the package to your transactions

Package Monthly fee
Essential C$3
Everyday C$9
Digital C$14
Unlimited C$19
Student C$0 for eligible students

Essential includes 15 self-serve transactions, five in-branch transactions and four Interac e-Transfers. Additional eligible transactions cost C$1.25 each; extra e-Transfers have their own fee. Everyday, Digital and Unlimited waive the package fee with balances of C$2,000, C$3,000 and C$5,000 respectively throughout the calendar month.

Student Chequing has no monthly package fee for members aged 18 to 25 or enrolled in post-secondary education. Members over 25 must provide proof of enrollment. Its age and study criteria make it different from the ordinary adult packages.

Meridian says people who live or work in Ontario can become members by opening an account and making a C$1 membership-share deposit. That deposit buys a share in the credit union. Use Become a Member to select an account, or book a meeting if you want help comparing packages. Check the included transaction types as well as the monthly price, especially if you regularly use branch services.
