What it does
MeshInspector handles meshes, point clouds and other 3D data in desktop and browser applications. It combines repair, measurement and export tools, with a continuing free Community plan and paid automation features.
| Plan | Features and access |
|---|---|
| Community | Permits commercial use; includes manual repair, measurements, decimation and remeshing |
| Makers | Adds Mesh Healer; annual per-user subscription |
| Professional | Adds Auto Repair, deviation analysis and in-app Python; annual per-user subscription |
A 30-day Professional trial needs no credit card and returns to Community afterwards.
Repair a mesh with Professional tools
- Load the model and open Mesh Repair > Mesh Healer.
- In Local Repair, select the defects to address and set Repair Resolution. Lower values retain more detail but take longer.
- Click Repair Selected, then use Show Deviation Map to inspect changes: red marks added geometry and blue marks removed geometry.
- Select objects of one type and choose Home > Save Selected or Home > Export. Pick an appropriate format for that type.
Auto Repair rebuilds the entire surface. Fix open holes first, since they can cause the reconstruction to infer unwanted geometry. For OBJ delivery, keep the material file and texture images with the model. glTF/GLB scene exchange uses Save Scene As instead of the object-export route.
Trial, Community and Makers access require a connection. Paid Professional desktop access works offline for up to seven days after signing in.
Strengths
- Meshes and point clouds can be inspected in the same application.
- Repair changes can be examined through a coloured deviation map.
Watch out for
- Mesh Healer and automatic surface rebuilding require paid plans after the trial.
- Trial, Community and Makers access require an internet connection.
Best for
- Artists preparing scans for modelling or printing
- Teams inspecting repaired geometry before export
