What it does
Midland Bank’s MDB Digital Savings is a BDT account for resident Bangladeshi citizens. Applications start online and require a one-time identity meeting. Internet banking and monthly electronic statements are included, while account maintenance and later-year SMS fees follow the bank’s tariff.
Online application, in-person identification
The dedicated Digital Savings account needs no initial deposit. The application begins online, but the account is not entirely remote. Midland requires original identity documents at a one-time meeting: staff can visit within 35 km of a branch, banking booth or agent centre; applicants outside that radius visit an office.
Prepare the online account form, passport or national-ID copies, applicant photographs and nominee identification and photo. Joint accounts use Either or Survivor operation. No cheque book is issued.
Fees beyond the free debit card
The account's debit-card annual fee is waived for life. A card request requires an activated account with at least BDT 1,000 available. SMS banking is free only for the first year; the August 2026 tariff lists BDT 300 per customer per year thereafter, plus VAT.
Half-yearly account maintenance depends on the average balance:
| Average balance | Fee every six months, before VAT |
|---|---|
| Up to BDT 10,000 | BDT 0 |
| Above BDT 10,000 to BDT 25,000 | BDT 100 |
| Above BDT 25,000 to BDT 200,000 | BDT 200 |
| Above BDT 200,000 to BDT 1,000,000 | BDT 250 |
| Above BDT 1,000,000 | BDT 300 |
The tariff applies 15% VAT to applicable charges. Internet banking and BEFTN transfers are free; NPSB transfers cost BDT 9.99 including VAT.
Card-use limits
Standard daily limits are BDT 50,000 for ATM cash and BDT 50,000 for card purchases, with ten combined ATM and purchase transactions. Customers can request changes, but more than ten such transactions in a day forfeits that month's account interest.
