What it does
Mixkit offers free stock video, music, sound effects and editing templates without an account. It has templates for Premiere Pro, After Effects, Final Cut Pro and DaVinci Resolve. Video downloads use either a Free or Restricted licence, so commercial permission depends on the selected clip.
Which video licence do you need?
Choose a clip covered by the Free License for advertising, client films or monetised videos. It allows commercial and personal projects without attribution. The Restricted License covers personal, noncommercial projects only. Music, sound effects and templates have their own terms.
The video library has separate 4K and Vertical categories, plus subjects such as nature, transport and food. Downloaded videos have no watermark. The catalogue also includes a labelled AI-generated video category.
For example, a vertical social advert can use a Free License clip as background footage and a template made for the editing app you already use. Links to Envato lead to a separate paid catalogue.
Strengths
- Downloads do not require registration
- Templates are grouped by editing application
Watch out for
- Restricted License videos cannot be used commercially
