What it does

MockCity generates mockups by placing designs inside PSD Smart Objects, the replaceable artwork layers in a Photoshop file. It supports multiple designs and templates, fit and anchor controls, and reusable configurations. The browser editor is free without registration; paid Pro features and a separate usage-based automation service are also offered.

Load templates from the library or drop your own PSD files, including folders of templates. Drop artwork into the design areas, adjust Fit and Anchor in the visual editor, then generate the mockups. Placement settings can be saved as an .mct configuration and loaded again for later batches.

MockCity says the browser editor processes files locally through Photopea. An optional Photoshop plugin connects the editor to a local Photoshop installation. If a template produces distorted artwork, its FAQ explains how to embed a missing displacement map in the PSD before loading it again.

For developers, the separate API, an interface for automating the work from software, uses cloud workers and usage credits. The published limits are 200 MB per PSD and 4.2 megapixels for the document or Smart Object canvas. Those cloud-service limits and charges are separate from the free browser editor.

Strengths

  • Saved .mct files retain artwork placement across later batches.
  • An optional Photoshop plugin provides another route for PSD processing.

Watch out for

  • Templates with missing displacement maps need preparation before they render correctly.

Best for

  • Designers producing repeated product previews from PSD templates
