What it does
Modern Font Stacks provides CSS font lists that use fonts already installed on a visitor’s device. Browse classifications such as Humanist, Transitional and Monospace Code, compare previews and copy a font-family declaration. The resource is freely available under CC0 and needs no account.
Choose a stack, adjust the size and weight, then compare it in Article View. The page marks stack members as Currently In Use, Available or Unavailable for your environment. Copy the displayed font-family declaration into your stylesheet.
For example, Monospace Code starts with ui-monospace and lists alternatives such as Cascadia Code, Source Code Pro, Menlo and Consolas. The browser uses an available option rather than downloading a font from this site.
That also means the rendered typeface can differ between devices. The character view and article specimen help inspect the current result, while the stack remains a set of fallbacks rather than a guarantee of identical line breaks everywhere.
