What it does

Mollie provides online and in-person payments, payment links, invoicing and recurring collection. Businesses in the European Economic Area, Switzerland and the UK can apply, including Slovenian businesses. Standard online pricing charges per successful transaction, while terminal payments have separate options.

A small merchant can start with a shareable payment link before adding checkout to a website. In Mollie Dashboard, open Payment links, choose Create, enter a description, amount and expiry, then create and share the link or QR code. A normal link stops accepting payments after it is paid; reusable links are available through the API. The link can use the account's enabled methods except Klarna.

Mollie's public euro price list charges 1.80% + €0.25 for European Economic Area consumer Visa and Mastercard payments, 2.90% + €0.25 for commercial cards from that area, and 3.25% + €0.25 for other cards. Standard online pricing has no minimum spend or fixed-term contract and includes payment links, invoicing and recurring collection.

Taking payments in person

Option Monthly charge Domestic consumer-card rate
Pay as you go €0 1.20%
Pro €20 per terminal licence 0.85% + €0.10
Volume Custom Custom

The Volume option is aimed at monthly volume above €100,000. Hardware has separate prices. Pay as you go permits one hardware terminal and does not support PAX terminals.

Country availability also differs by device. In Slovenia, Mollie lists its Android and iOS Tap apps as available, while fixed, mobile and Tap terminals are available on request. Ask through Help in the Dashboard about those terminal options.

Account checks and bank payouts

Create an account, then use Start setup to enter the company's registration details, owners, website and payment methods. Finish setup includes identity documents for legal representatives and bank-account verification. An IBAN or UK bank account is required.

Mollie separates pending money from the available balance. The default bank payout is weekly on Wednesday; Settings, then Balance, lets you choose other schedules, including business-day or manual payouts. Reports, then Balance, shows available and pending funds and the next estimated payout. Faster payout choices can have additional fees.

Strengths

Watch out for

  • Payment links do not support Klarna
  • The pay-as-you-go terminal option permits only one hardware terminal

Best for

  • Merchants combining payment links with a web checkout
  • Slovenian businesses considering phone-based in-person payments
