What it does

Monetal records income, spending and debts on iPhone and Android without requiring registration. Records work offline, with separate accounts and detailed expense history. The Android edition is free; the iPhone edition offers paid Premium options.

The plus and minus controls beside an account distinguish money coming in from money going out. Add the amount and category, then return to the history when you need to check the entry.

For a category limit, open Expenses and long-press the three figures below the expense total to reach the budget editor. Its text rules can combine categories: a pets allowance could add Cat and Dog spending before applying one limit.

Synchronization is configured under Settings > Synchronization. Accounts with matching names share transactions, but balances themselves are not synchronized. Align starting balances manually if two devices disagree.

On iPhone, bank messages can be passed through an Apple Shortcuts automation using the Process receipt action. Monetal's recognition rules must identify an amount, account and category for an entry to be created.

The Android publisher listing states that it has no ads, subscriptions or in-app purchases. The Russian iPhone App Store lists these Premium options in rubles:

Premium option Listed price
Monthly RUB 449
Annual RUB 2,490
Forever RUB 4,490

Those are the prices for that storefront; the iPhone purchase screen supplies the offer for your region.

Strengths

  • The website's conversion tool accepts tab-separated exports from supported expense apps.
  • Account groups and nested categories let you organize several wallets or detailed household spending.

Watch out for

  • A shared transaction can only be edited on the device where it was created.
  • SMS and email recognition is not yet available on Android.

Best for

  • People who want local personal records and are comfortable defining their own category rules
