What it does

MoneyMoney brings supported bank accounts together on a Mac for transaction searches, categorisation and payments. It can split entries, retrieve electronic statements and analyse account activity. Connections and available payment functions depend on the bank.

Right-click a transaction and choose Suche nach… to find other entries from the same sender or recipient. This collects repeated phone bills or transfers without rebuilding a filter. Rules and split entries help organise the resulting history, while electronic statements can be retrieved as PDF files.

For a new payment, Sm@rtPaste reads a copied block of bank details into the transfer form through Einfügen aus Zwischenablage. A previous transaction can also become the starting point through Neu aus Auswahl. Bank authorisation still applies.

Connections and ownership

The bank list identifies restrictions that matter in daily use. For example, C24 access through the optional PSD2 connection retrieves balances and transactions but cannot send transfers. The 1822direkt entry also excludes transfers. German FinTS/HBCI connections and selected other institutions are supported, with different capabilities for each.

The Mac licence costs €79.99 including VAT, after a 30-day trial. Optional PSD2 access is a separate 12-month purchase without automatic renewal; direct-debit collection is another paid extension. One personal licence covers the purchaser’s own Macs when that person is the sole user. A second user needs another licence.

Older transactions can be imported through Umsätze importieren, including CSV, QIF and OFX files. MoneyMoney keeps its database locally. The help menu’s Datenbank im Finder zeigen command locates the files, including separate Database and Statements folders, which is useful when arranging a backup or moving to another Mac.

Strengths

  • Context-menu searches collect repeated payments from the same counterparty.
  • Transaction imports and local database files help retain older banking records.
  • Copied payment details can populate a transfer form before bank authorisation.

Watch out for

  • Some supported connections retrieve account data without allowing transfers.
  • Optional PSD2 access has a separate 12-month purchase.
  • The application is available for Mac only.

Best for

  • Mac users consolidating supported accounts and electronic statements
  • People keeping a searchable local history of bank transactions
