What it does

MoneyPatrol collects personal account activity into a dashboard for income, expenses, bills and budgets. Users can select the views they want and share a dashboard with a spouse or another invited reviewer. Core tools are free, with paid plans for detailed budgeting and reconciliation; bank connections cover US and Canadian institutions.

MoneyPatrol's dashboard can concentrate on balances, bills or spending patterns. Its transaction view lets you filter by account or merchant instead of searching through several bank apps. Register with an email address and password, then add your financial institutions or maintain manual records.

From a spending category to a budget

Choose Create Expense Budget, select a category, set Frequency to weekly, monthly or yearly, enter an amount and choose Create Budget. Add New creates a category during setup.

Open a budget's bar to see the transactions behind its total. The pencil edits it; the bin deletes it. Renaming a budget changes which matching category, merchant or tag transactions appear, so the name affects the calculation rather than just the label.

Paid options

The paid plans have a 15-day trial. The price page displays these discounted annual prices and separate lifetime offers:

Plan Annual price Lifetime offer Main additions
Essential $29.99 $99.99 Account tracking, bill reminders, receipts and two years of data retention
Premier $49.99 $199.99 Detailed budgets, reconciliation, forecasts and five years of retention
Power $79.99 $299.99 Investment records, advanced reports and unlimited retention

Free access covers core features; Premier is the relevant paid tier for the detailed budgeting and reconciliation tools. Receipt uploads can keep supporting documents beside your finances. MoneyPatrol has web access plus iOS, Android, Windows, Mac and Linux apps.

Strengths

  • A shared dashboard gives a spouse or invited reviewer the same financial overview.
  • Merchant and tag budgets provide alternatives to category limits.

Watch out for

  • Detailed budgeting and balance or transaction reconciliation start with Premier.
  • Essential retains two years of data, and Premier retains five.
  • Renaming a budget changes which transaction labels match it.

Best for

  • US or Canadian households reviewing spending, bills and balances together
  • People who want merchant or tag budgets alongside ordinary category limits
