What it does
Moovit provides urban public-transport planning through an app with real-time arrivals, step-by-step navigation and service alerts. Its publisher also describes favourite lines, offline transit maps, community reports and digital tickets in selected cities.
Use live navigation for the part of a journey that is easy to miss: the walk to a stop, the transfer and the approaching destination. Arrival updates and disruption alerts help reassess the route when a service changes, while favourites bring frequently used stops and lines back quickly.
The ticketing feature is explicitly limited to selected cities, so planning a route does not establish that the fare can also be bought in the app. Offline transit maps provide a different function from live arrivals, useful underground or where reception is poor. The publisher also describes bike-station information and a stop-finding view. Check the actual city and service for the transport options available rather than assuming every advertised feature is present on every network.
Strengths
- Connects live journey guidance with line and station favourites
- Clearly limits in-app ticketing to selected cities
Watch out for
- Ticket purchase and validation are available only in selected cities.
Best for
- Visitors who need guided transfers on an unfamiliar city network
