What it does

MotiveWave is charting software for order flow, volume profiles, replay and Elliott Wave analysis. Its free Community edition covers basic charting, while paid editions add trading and specialized studies. Desktop versions are available for Windows, macOS and Linux.

Volume Imprint shows activity at individual price levels, while a volume profile summarizes a selected range. MotiveWave also offers editable automatic Elliott Wave counts, allowing an analyst to adjust a proposed study.

Select an edition by the analysis needed

Edition Analysis tools and connections
Community Chart tools, more than 280 studies and replay; one broker or data feed per workspace
Order Flow Adds specialist order-flow studies
Pro Adds multiple connections and strategy backtesting
Ultimate Adds advanced Elliott Wave tools

Data itself is not included, though files can be imported.

The 14-day trial normally uses Ultimate and begins at registration, not installation. It asks for a name and email, with no credit card, then changes to Community at expiry. Paid licences can be leased or purchased. A purchased licence includes one year of updates and support; afterward, the installed eligible version can still be used without buying an extension.

Strengths

  • A permanent Community edition includes charts and replay
  • Purchased licences remain usable after the update period ends

Watch out for

  • Market data must come from a supported provider or imported files
  • Order-flow and advanced Elliott Wave features require higher editions

Best for

  • Analysts studying price-level volume and market structure
  • Desktop users comparing specialist charting tools
