What it does

Mox is a Hong Kong mobile banking service with local money movement, bill splitting and account-activity notifications. Express Remit uses Wise Platform for supported international transfers. Opening requires Hong Kong identity, address and mobile details, followed by verification in the app.

For a one-time international transfer, the Mox app shows the charges before submission and tracks the payment afterward, including a completion notification. Local account tools also include adding money and splitting bills with other Mox users.

New accounts have staged transfer limits. The initial outgoing and Add Money limit is HKD0; after activation it can be temporarily capped at HKD10,000 during review. Later increases depend on completion of review and onboarding. Find the current setting through Settings → Account Settings → Daily limits.

Sending on a future date

Choose Actions → Express Remit → Set up in the Recurring Remittance Transfer section, then enter the amount, date and recipient. A fixed send amount keeps your outgoing amount stable; a fixed receive amount keeps the recipient’s amount stable instead. The exchange rate and charges are determined when the scheduled transfer runs, with the applied charges shown afterward in Activity. A scheduled instruction cannot be cancelled on its execution date.

Opening and charges

The Hong Kong resident route requires age 18 or over, an original Hong Kong Identity Card, a local residential address and a Hong Kong mobile number. The app scans identification and uses facial verification.

Account opening is free, there is no minimum balance requirement, and the Mox Card has no annual fee. The general tariff charges by transaction or service. For example, local JETCO cash withdrawals are free, while local Mastercard-network withdrawals cost HKD20. Paper statements cost HKD50 each. Express Remit fees depend on the destination, amount and transfer route; currency conversion can add a separate charge.

For records without a paper-statement order, open Accounts or Activity, then View statement to download the monthly document.

Strengths

  • One-time remittances combine a cost preview with subsequent status tracking.
  • Scheduled remittances can fix either the outgoing or recipient amount.
  • Monthly statements can be downloaded from Accounts or Activity.

  • Scheduled remittance rates and fees are determined at execution.
  • A scheduled remittance cannot be cancelled on its execution date.

Best for

  • Customers comparing a fixed outgoing amount with a fixed recipient amount
